2026 Week 30 | Sigma: Workbook Data Prep AI Agent

Introduction

Welcome to Week 26 of 2026!

Sigma Agent allows you to read, write, and execute actions natively within the workbook, data sources, and input tables. This challenge showcases how you may build last-mile data prep into a workbook with Sigma Agent. 

The example setup requires a Linked Input Table to store output from Sigma Agent, a properly configured Sigma Agent with detailed instructions and tools to support analysis of text columns, provide recommendations, ask for user approval, and update rows in the Linked Input Table. 

To complete this challenge, you must work in Sigma Public.

Requirements

Data Page

  • CSV Upload CRM Data with non-standard Company Names
  • Linked Input Table from the data source with a text column to collect Agent corrected Company Name, a checkbox column used by Agent for highlighting, and a Coalesce column to display the final Company name.  

Agent Setup

  • The Agent must reference the Linked Input Table as the Data Source
  • Configure Tools for the Agent so it can execute workbook actions to update input table columns
  • Provide detailed instruction to walk through the Agent how to approach a Company Name standardization per user request. First Analyze all rows that belong to the same standard company name, then recommend a user for the next steps. Once the user approves, first turn the checkbox column to True (for highlighting), then populate standardized company names for those rows, and finally turn the checkbox back to False once finished. 

User Interface

  • Display Agent and a child table of the Linked Input Table side by side. Use conditional formatting to highlight rows when checkbox is True.
