2026 Week 17 | Sigma: Let’s Waste Some Time

Introduction

Welcome to Week 17 of 2026!

This week, we’re going to play with a newer feature in Sigma:  Pixel Perfect Reporting.  We’re going to create a report that examines food waste which could be scheduled to export to various food truck executives on a weekly basis.

Note:  Reports cannot be shared publicly, so to view the full example, you must be part of the WoW instance.

Good luck!

Requirements

The goal of this challenge is to create a report that displays food waste cost for the selected Food Truck Brand(s).  This type of report may be scheduled as a Monday morning executive report.  We will not be setting up a scheduled export as part of this exercise.

Header:

Add a title that describes this Waste Report, including:

  • The selected Truck Brand
  • The date the report was run

Report Body:

Your visible page should contain:

  • A table with the selected Truck Brand’s Food Waste Detail:
    • Use the Data Model:  Workspaces/Workout Wednesday/2026/ 2026W17 – What’s the Waste?/Tasty Bytes Food Waste
    • Filter this table to show Expiration Dates in the last 7 Days
    • Expand the table to show all rows
    • Visualize these columns:
      • Truck Brand Name
      • Primary City
      • Item
      • Unit
      • Unit Price
      • Expired Quantity
  • Use this table as the parent for some charts:
    • KPI showing the week’s Total Cost of Expired Goods
    • A horizontal bar chart that shows the Cost of Expired Goods by Primary City
      • Add a color on Menu Type
      • Add Data Labels
  • Add a control for Truck Brand Name

Footer

  • Add page numbers to your report

Tips

  • Because the intent of this report is a static email, and not an interactive workbook, we don’t actually want to see the Truck Brand control, but we need it to filter the same report for different users.  Unlike workbooks, you can hide elements by placing another element on top of it.  This will allow a user to set the control in the Scheduled Export modal, but it will not take up valuable real estate on the report itself.
