Introduction
You’ve probably seen the default Power BI tooltip that lists values like Sales, Profit, or Enrollment. While that’s useful, it doesn’t always explain what those numbers mean. Sentence template tooltips let you turn those values into a natural sentence… making your reports easier to understand without creating a custom tooltip page.
Where can you find them?
Select a visual, then go to the Format pane → Tooltip. Here you’ll find the option to switch to Sentence format only mode and create your own tooltip message using the fields available in your visual.
Dataset
The dataset is a single Excel file found on Github at:

Requirements
- Use the enrollment dataset to create two bar charts showing enrollment by colleges
- Recreate the two tooltips shown in this challenge. Include in the tooltip:
- The current enrollment
- Previous year’s enrollment
- Year-over-year percentage
- College name
- Selected year
- A trend indicator (such as an arrow)
Don’t worry if your wording isn’t exactly the same. The goal is to create a tooltip that explains the data, not just displays it.
